Comic books make for a great investment. They are lucrative and can be worth a lot of money. However, investing in comic books may not bring a big payoff right away. It can take fifteen to twenty years for a comic book to be valuable. Who would’ve thought that a childhood pastime would make you some money, and at the same time you get to have fun while purchasing comic books that bring some joy into your life.

Comic books are rising in value because of the increased popularity of them. Hollywood producers are making recognizable comic books heroes the stars of their movies. For people who are not familiar with the characters, they soon find themselves becoming more interested in them. Or people are reminded of characters they loved as a kid after seeing movies such as Ironman, Wonderwoman, and Superman. They are inspired to buy the comics after watching the movie.

Investing in comic books requires some work and dedication from the collector. They keep their value when they are in good condition and stored properly. There is also researched involved. How popular is the comic, what is the initial cost, what is the current value, how rare is the comic? You also have to decide what type of collector you want to be. There are different types of ways to be an investor for comics.

Investors simply care about the bottom line. They don’t have an emotional side attached with the comics and look to see how much money they can make from selling the comics. Another form of the investor is the person out to make some quick cash. This comic collector buys and sells in bulk tying to make fast money. Usually they are selling the most popular comics, not rarities. Usually they read the comics first and then sell them to get money back, but of course at a higher rate. Unlike the other investors they enjoy reading the comics and have some emotional attachment. Excitement not only comes from the comic but also the auctioning off of the book.

On the other hand, there are the emotional types of investors. To these types of people, there is sentimental value to the comics and they invest, trade, and purchase comics with value. The reader has the comics for their traditional purpose, reading. They don’t care about preserving the comic and enjoy the superheroes come to life as they read through the colorful pages of a comic. A step down from the reader is the part time reader. They enjoy comics but pick up and leave the hobby when it suits them. Last but not least, are the obsessive collectors. They dream, live, and breathe comic books. They categorize their comics, preserve the comics, and are the go-to guys for comic information.

How To Find The Best Publisher

If you were a writer. When you finish your book, next tip, you have to find a suitable publisher who will help publish your book. To ensure your book publish successful, first, you must know clearly that what you want a publisher to do for your book and what requirements publishers want. It’s best to be as clear as possible on both counts.

What You Want

What exactly do you want for your book? It’s possible that your answer can save you a lot of time and heartache. Here’s an example. A writer recently emailed me about wanting to find a publisher for his book on dealing with sickle cell anemia. He said he felt it was a really important book and that people would be interested in the information. That’s great, but if his main goal is getting his book into the hands of those coping with the disease, he doesn’t have to go with a big traditional publishing house in order to do that. He can self publish and take the book directly to doctor’s offices, support groups and sickle cell organizations.

Do you want a book that tells a family story that will be a legacy for your children? Do you want a book that will establish your expertise and help you get started on the speaking circuit? You can accomplish these things by self publishing. A prominent ghostwriter recently published a book about his trade and landed a television interview where he discussed how politicians get their books written. The author was introduced as a “ghostwriting guru” and his book was prominently displayed at the end of the story. There was nothing that would have told you the book was self published. It didn’t make a difference that it was. He still got the notice, was still seen as an expert.

Publishers are reviewing tons of manuscripts daily. How do you get your submission package to stand out from the others? By giving what they’re looking for.

They want good writing. That’s a given, but how do you deliver? First of all, be in a mode of constantly learning about your craft. Take classes, workshops, join a writer’s group. Next, hire someone to help you. There are many editors who assist writers in getting a manuscript ready for submission. Some agencies even provide editing as part of their services.

The next part is harder. It has to do with that magical term “platform”. Everyone these days talks about how publishers buy on the basis of your platform. In fact your submission package, fiction or non-fiction, will be all about showcasing your platform. Here’s what they’re looking for and how to demonstrate it.


Who you know and who knows you: Have testimonials and blurbs from known and noted people featured in your package. If you have a few big names behind you, that’s more power for your marketing machine.

Do you have a following? If you put out a newsletter or other regular media you’ll want to show how many subscribers you have. If you have a killer website, tell the number of hits you draw each month. If you sell a product, give sales figures to show you know how to produce what your customers want.

Are you in front of people all the time? Tell what media you already have under your belt. When and where were your last speaking engagements? Describe any radio, television, newspaper or magazine interviews you’ve done recently.

At the present, if you’re lacking in one of publisher’s these requirements, don’t be shy to change your situation. Moreover, to attract publishers, you should polish your prose and your personal, it’s seen the best steps for you to do that. If you choose the best publisher for you book, you can feel secure because your book will be publish successful. And improving your writing or marketing fronts is necessary and never be wasted.
